Door Not Quite Closed Yet on David Bednar Trade?
With a little over two hours to go before the Trade Deadline and with the Cubs still looking to add another reliever (or two?), the door may not yet be COMPLETELY closed on the most impactful addition possible.
The rumors on Pirates closer David Bednar started a couple days ago, and they’re not over yet:
Many clubs interested in Pittsburgh closer David Bednar. Cubs have kicked tires on this. It would take a lot for Pirates to move top pitcher with plenty ( 3 years ) of contract control.
That’s an interesting thing to share right before the deadline, no? Makes you think Cubs have been trying to get Bednar, but the price tag has consistently been just a bit too high. Dude is one of the best relievers in baseball, and has been for years – so, yeah, the price tag would be kinda nuts for a reliever. But I’d still be tempted.
I know he would be outrageously expensive, I know a deal is unlikely, but over here thinking about David Bednar like pic.twitter.com/BwDmo5HHRb
